The Greater U Street Collective performed on Silver Spring's Veterans Plaza on June 2, 2011. The group consists of National Endowment of the Arts Fellow, Art Cobb on drums; vocalist Cashandra Bacon (Howard University's Afro Blue); bassist Thomas View (Yah Ya Abdul Majid, Anthony Braxton, Peter Yarow, Jermaine Jackson); pianist Peter Frassrand(Curly Robinson Ensemble) woodwinds Russell Carter (Doug Carn, Webster Young); trumpeter Carl Macintyre (Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Gladys Knight, National Symphony Orchestra, Ojays).
